E400 power steering
Some forums have some great pics and details on replacing the PS pump/bracket assy for the 400 series. My E420 has a leak at the return hose (small, 76MM long) between the reservoir and the pump. This is very difficult to get to. My question is, is it possible to remove the reservoir from the bracket (along with it's hose nipple) without removing the entire pump/bracket assembly? If so, it would cut the labor involved down by about 90%. Has anyone had this problem and tried to replace the small return hose this way? Norm

Most, if not all, including mine, leak.. It takes about 1/4 bottle of fluid every 4-5k. Is it really worth replacing unless it's dead? Unless it's making a total mess.........They will limp along like this for years

On mine the leak is getting progressively worse. I stopped it for a while by taking up on the clamps with a 1/4" ratchet and 7MM socket but I noticed that the hose is becoming cracked. Repositioning the clamps seemed to disturb it (DARN!) and made it leak more. I'm going to try loosening and adjusting the clamps again this weekend, but right now the leak is too severe to drive it.
