steering wheel uneven position w126

The steering wheel on my 300se has a slightly uneven position . At the 9 o'clock side it is lower as compared to the 3 o'clock side .
The difference seems to be about 10 mm lower on the left side ,with no wobble on turning.
The car has a adjustable column and is it possible for a slipped gear to cause this odd position?
Input appreciated .
thanks
mak

Sounds like someone did an alignment job on it without centering the steering wheel.

Yes, That would be describing it very correctly, not parallel to the dash but slightly angled towards the left side
