Grease the window mechanism?
I am currently working on some rust issues on my 400E.
Interior and exterior door panels are off, turns out the Door Check was toast, so i plan on replacing that. While I have everything off the door would it be a good idea to grease the window linkage system? what would be the prefered type of grease to use? Thanks, Luke |

If the windows go up smoothly, I wouldn't worry about it. The mechanism won't fail on you if you don't grease it. It'll just move slower or be more noisy.

The window moves up and down a little jittery, I must have got used to it operating like this...
I am going to give it a little lube while the door panel is off. Do you have any sugestions on the type of grease to use? Where is the correct place to re-lube? Thanks, Luke |

Lithium grease should be fine.

Sunroof lube.
The vaseliney stuff that costs $70 a tub. I've had good luck with that....

I used spraycan white lithium grease. Used to only find it in marine stores but now I see it in every chain auto parts store.

White lithium grease cakes up and hardens; I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to open the doors up later on and regrease it. At NAPA you can buy SilGlyde which is a silicone-based grease that doesn't dry up and harden.

A full synthetic wheel bearing grease should work fine and not dry out...
