Heh, well that's even more confusing!

How so? It was all quite straightforward to me.

I've go some saying that if I do that, I will get a SRS light that will require a reset at the dealer.

I've been reading SRS reset threads today. Obviously if I could getaway with what you are describing that would be perfect. I am getting conflicting data however.

No one with an 124 is saying a trip to the dealer is needed.

I told you in the other thread...if you just unbolted the 2 hex screws on the back of the airbag and removed it you would have none of these problems. The amount of time you have spent researching could have had the airbag out and stored safety days ago.

I read back over a few of your posts.

Seems like you've had a lot of experience with the airbag in W124's. At least more than I have had.

You don't think there will be a problem connecting the battery without the airbag connector connected? Then Power down, reconnect, Power up, no light issue expected?

Yup, that's what I'm saying.

Don't get your hackles up, and don't take this personal. There is info on the Internet that is not dead reliable or correct, or accurate. For instance read this thread start to finish, there are different "opinions" here, to say the least. I try to do as much reading and asking questions as I can and try to make the best decision I can.

The two issues I'm trying to avoid are the airbag going off and the SRS light needing a reset.

The later cars are different, I'd stick with what the 124 guys are saying. There is a different 124 controller in '90-up with the dual airbags also, ... I think that your early one will behave like Chas is saying.

I'm not...Just giving you advice that would solve both your issues at once...
