Question starting, 2nd try a charm

Howdy

I did not find what I needed in the archives so here goes:

1990 300E 3.0L 117K purchased two weeks ago.

Amongst the problems I am addressing is a starting problem. When the engine has been off (not running) more than 30-45 minutes it takes two tries to start the engine. The first attempt it turns over and then quickly stalls, then on second try it starts no problem.

I will be doing 85% of the wrenching on this car myself, so please do not be afraid to provide detailed trouble shooting advice.

muchos gracias
Don
