I'm looking to buy an SEC widebody and was hoping some useful info from some of you more experienced. The one i'm looking at is an 89 560sec AMG Euro model. Overall the car looks good but needs some TLC. Is there a web site I can go to in order to find out if it really is a "real" AMG widebody? is there some sort of registry that I can look up? are there any specific things I should look out for in these cars? sorry for all the questions but I'm not as knowledgeable with these cars as i am with the 124's. Thanks in advance.

I've heard that the heads and gaskets on those AMGs are a real pain to stop from leaking, but I have no first hand experience on the matter.

what is a 560sec widebody.

i have a 1987. very cherry.completely original except for the radio.

i don't recall ever seeing later year models of the c126 with a track wider than my 1987 model.

have i been blind?

AMG made them with new, wider quarter panels - they had nothing to do with Mercedes.

Let me guess, the Jack Toyer silver/black widebody for ~$23K (or $14,500, depending on who you talk to)?

That car has some verifiable history behind it and traceable to its previous owners. Worth a 2nd look.

So you know that car. What can you tell me about it? Is it a real amg car? I'm very interested and ready to buy but really don't want to be taken for a ride. Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
