calling experience: W124/M119 motor mounts

Alright guys-

How has done this here? I'm a bit nervous- my PPI which I relyed on didn't mention the broken swaybar mounts or that the trans cooler line has been gerry-rigged with hose clamps and fuel line!!!!

Got the 2 17 mm bolts on the tops loose, took the passenger side brake off- easy as the lower shroud is missing(another thing NOT mentioned). Easy to get the bracket off.. no idea on how to do it on the drivers. remove the upper fan shroud, jack the engine slightly and I still cannot wiggle it out which is a worry as the new ones is going to be taller.
Do I need to take off the engine airfilter assy on the top of the motor? I'm guessing I still need another 1/2 -3/4 of an inch. Actually it maybe 1/8 to get the old mount out. Didn't take any time.
Noticed replacement lower shrouds for $50 on ebay. Anyone have experience with these aftermarket panels???? Seems like I can go to the aftermarket body panel place in Dallas and round them up without paying the shipping... could be a deal.

Sugggestions on the drivers side would be great- guess it comes out from the rear of the subframe and not the front due to a/c compressor.

That car & the SL500's are about the most difficult cars to replace the drivers side mount.

You need room. Disconnecting coolant lines & jacking the engine is required.
I usually remove the motor arm from the block & then disconnect the mount from the arm.

Thanks MB doc...

I'll give it a rest for a day- and attack again later this week. I think the passenger side is easy, I just didn't take off the heat shield that is required against the frame.
Reviewing the FSM, I think I it will be fine. So the question begs me- out of the 5 hrs of book time- are 4.5 spent on the driverside mount?
