How do I remove vanity mirror

I have a 97 SL500 and need to remove the old vanity mirror to replace. Anyone know how I should go about this so I don't ruin the visor? Thanks

Vanity Mirror

Subscription page for Electronic Parts Catalog:
http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/subscribe.jsp
group69 (Paneling and Lining)
section015(Roof attachment parts,door edge Guards...)

This Visor has the "Flip Up" cover on the Vanity Mirror ?
The Cover and Mirror are a one piece unit.
There are three sets of two plastic latches on the Bottom edge
and Three sets on the top edge[The top center latch is a single]
('Best way I can describe the "Latches is they appear as 1/2 of an arrow,
and when the Cover/Mirror is inserted into the SunVisor they click into it.)

There are tiny little slots at each side of the Bottom edge of the Apparatus
that you can fit a SMALL flat blade screwdriver into to GENTLY pry with.
The Bottom Center has no molded in slot so you'll have to approximate.

Once you get the Cover/Mirror off you'll see the Mirror is PLASTICO (Safety)
held in place with Heat Crimped plastic tabs and dabs of some kind of brown
sealant.

My Driver's side VM is cracked.
The Dealer's want to sell you a Complete New Sun Visor ($$$.$$)

I cannot find a Mercedes part # on the Cover/Mirror anywhere (???)

I've forgotten Twice whilst in Recycler's yards to get a replacement.
(Recycler's are to me; like a Needless Markup [Neiman Marcus] store is
to the Ladies; I just go all starry eyed and start drooling.)

If I could find a replacement Plastic Mirror insert, I'd fiddle with R+R of
the broken one.

Please let me know if you find an innovative solution.

I'll take a look at it tomorrow. MB did quote me a price for just the vanity mirror of approximately $138.00 so you might want to call again. The plastic cover on mine broke so I have no choice but to replace the entire mirror.

I'll be searching JunkYards/ReCyclers...

from Key West to N.O. to New Foundland (On my hands and Knees,Blindfolded)
,Before I give them $138.00 USD for the Mirror/Cover!

Thanks for the Info!
