Bosch Mustang O2 sensor splice- anyone done this?

I'm going to try splicing in a '90 Mustang GT O2 sensor Bosch part# 13953 to save about $90 over the cost of an MB sensor. I have located the female connector for this(Ford part#AUVC927082-discontinued- found one at O'Reilly item #PT5690), and plan on soldering the plug end from the old sensor to this female connector so that future sensor changes can be plug 'n play. $40 for the sensor and $13.50 for the plug beats $145 for the correct MB sensor, especially since both sensors are identical save for the end plug. Has anyone done this? My question relates to how to determine which wires go where. If anyone has any experience relating to this procedure I'd be grateful for any knowledge- thanks.

Already got the O2 and the plug for $55 locally. $70 beats the hell out of $150 though, still.

mak - can you give some insight as to which wires get soldered to which?

If I have to buy the correct sensor I will, but it doesn't seem like I absolutely have to. If I can make this work, then if I ever need a new one after this it will be a 5 minute $40 job.

I bought my Mustang O2 sensor from Advance Auto for like $40

3-wire. Two white, one black.

You should use the wiring on the existing Mercedes O2 sensor harness to do this as the black wire is the signal line and it connects to a coaxial green wire.

So just match the colors up. It doesn't matter which white wire you solder to a white wire too. They are just heater lines.

Thanks JamesDean, I got the Bosch Mustang O2 sensor for $39.99 as well. The mating connector was the extra $15 (actually $13.50 as I rounded up) because if I ever have to change the sensor out again I want to be able to just go out and buy another Mustang sensor without having to cut & resolder. Still a hell of a lot cheaper than going OEM.
