What is "D" service on 2004 E-320 wagon?
I have a 2004 E320 wagon ( gas) with only 24,500 miles on it. My dash display is saying I need a "D" service in 28 days. My owners manual doesen't say anything about a "D" sevice. Local MB shop ( Tucson) serviced it at 16,000 miles in late 2008 with oil, filters etc, car was still under MB service warranty so no cost to me. My question is: what is a D service and approx. what should it cost at MB shop? Should I consider an independent shop or stick with MB on this service?

Here is the MB service schedule for that year model.
MB lists the services numbericaly, so A=1...B=2 and so on. When you go to have the car serviced, the shop will QUIZ the FSS system for any needed service. The car may suggest other services as well.

Thanks MB DOC
Thanks M.B. DOC...Lets see if I have this right...the "D" service is the same as level 4 service which is pretty basic. However the shop may also use level 12, 13 or 14 when servicing the car or the car( FSS) may also indicate things that need done right? So in addition to the basic oil change and filters ( level 12) they will probably do a lot more? In other words I won't know what they are going to do to the car until I take it in. Local MB shop quoted me $600 parts and labor with 4 hours labor. Does that sound about right to you? PS....I'm sure the service schedule attachment you sent makes perfect sense to you but to the novice it's pretty confusing.Having lived in Germany a number of years I learned that nothing is simple if it can be made complex. ....Desert
