Accelerator pedel pushes back at me when floored!

A strange realization:

When I push the accelerator pedel to the floor on my 1991 300E the car accelerates - and as the engine gets into the higher RPMs - I found that the pedel seems to "push back" at me. -- almost like the car is telling me to - back off - !

I thought this was all in my mind -- BUT SURE ENOUGH -- after several trials -- I have found this to be true.

**** ANYONE out there EVER find this strange phenomenon to happen to them, in their Benz ??

-- Anyone know why this happens ??
