Hirnbeiss............LOL!

When I first met my wife, then girlfriend, I told her cars stopped working when they reached 100,000. She looked at me and gave me the expression like, "Yea, right! I am not stupid!"

That rule only applies to domestic cars. Though, most don't even make it that far. My work has 8 PT cruisers as company cars....and one has already had an engine replaced. (none of them have much over 45k on them) My family's caravan (bought new) blew its transmission pulling gently out onto a 25mph road....had just over 96k on it....and we maintained it just as well as the MBs!

LOL! Great reply!

Our ride was a third car for the Mrs and me............made a few mods and took care of it. Still running great!

Too bad about the domestic rides...................

The Germans know how to select good metals for their engines. I should know... take a peek at my signature!

That is a lot of miles!

The only thing my ride needs is a new real main seal. Getting incontinent after all these years! LOL!

Interesting, my 300E has 50% more miles and doesn't leak anything.....in fact none of our MB's leak from either main seal....

LOL Don't speak too soon...tomorrow you'll go out and find a puddle. MBs are leakers.

Most of my rides have over 100K.
'99 E300 = 146K
'89 560SL = 120K
'94 945 Volvo has 260k
'89 244 Volvo has 290K

But the vehicle with the most mileage on it?
'94 Ford F150 = 310K
I guess they must ask the Germans what metals they use so they can put them in their trucks.

Oh, my '68 GT500KR = 120K before resto

I don't trade in cars, I bury them.

Nahh, in all 7 years of driving them and my family having 7 of them as daily drivers, I've only encountered a "bad leak" once so far....this past december my turbo oil return tube began hemorrhaging quite badly (1/2 qt a day)....I replaced it and the oil pan gasket, and now it is dry and clean. My power steering pump leaks a bit from its main seal, but only about 1 cup of fluid per 2000 miles or so. None of our other cars really leak anything at all. My 300E loses virtually nothing in the 5-6 months/4000 miles between changes.

100,000 miles? just breaking her in!

Mine just turned 103,000 miles. I am putting 20,000 miles a year on my 95 E320 by my weekly drive from Birmingham Michigan to Grand Haven MI on the west side of the state (close to pawoSD neighborhood). With a few miles here and there, I am averaging 400 miles a week. She only had 52,000 miles when I bought it in July 07. No leaks. Just did an oil and filter change this weekend and noticed a bit of wetness on the transmission cooler lines, same as I had on my 94 sportline. I'll change them in the next couple of weeks.
My mechanic did tell me that it would be abnormal if your mercedes does not have some sort of leak
