w124c conversion - M104/117/119 fitment?

The time has come...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tranny in the CE widebody ducktail went out the other day. Toast. NG. So, faced with the cost of swapping in a new one, I'm starting to rethink whether a conversion would be better while I'm in there.

While I have an 5.6L ECE motor, I think I'd rather save that for a Gen2 w126 project as I already have the Gen2 Euro bumpers.

Now I need to mine your brains. What would be the easiest/most difficult to fit in the CE?

I need separate difficulty levels for 1) the engine fitment in the chassis/subframe mods and 2) the wiring work required. 3) Transmission fitment/compatibility

- 3.0L M104 (1990-95)
- 3.6L M104 (1995? out of a C36 AMG)
- 4.2L M119 out of a 400E
- 5.0L M119 out of a 92 500SL (does this work w/ the 400E front submount?
- 5.6L M117

I'm leaning towards either the AMG 3.6L M104 or 5.0L M119.

Thoughts?
