w126 trans upshift delay problems

Hello everyone,

I've been tracking down a fuse blowing issue and I believe I found it.

Fuse #5 blows when the engine is cold and one backs out and then engages drive...

After pulling the upshift delay relay (on firewall near fuse box and ovp) the fuse no longer blows..

So two things:

1) the wiring to the solenoid is grounding out and blowing the fuse
2) the solenoid is bad and blowing the fuse..

So has anyone ran into this problem before?

Can the solenoid be replaced?
Is it important that the solenoid be replaced? Will not having the upshift delay functioning damage the transmission?
