How to open the hood vertically on an '84 190D 2.2

Hello - How to open up the hood vertically on a 1984 190D 2.2? A mechanic friend and I are going to replace the heater blower tomorrow morning (it's right now almost midnight). If anyone online I would appreciate very much a response - Thanks in advance.

If the car has the vertical open feature on the hood, there should be a squeeze clamp fixture on each hood hinge (looks a bit like a clothes pin). On mine, after the hood is up to normal position, I pull the hood closed about an inch and squeeze the driver side clamp, which pulls a pin out of the way and allows the hood to open a little further than normal. Repeating this process on the passenger side alows the full vertical position to be accessed.
