Broken heater core
Hello,
Yesterday the top radiator hose on my C280 at the rear of the cylinder head broke at the plastic it clamps too.... I assume this is the heater core connection... Does the dash have to come out to replace this 1inch tube of plastic? Also... The mechanic who has the car at the moment says he will block the heater core from the aux pump on the other side and possibly disable the pump to get it running in the meantime. Should the heater cores path be returning coolant flow when shes running??? And is it ok for the engine to run without the aux pump?? Thanks

Well I have my car back now and have inspected the Aux pump closer...
looks like it only pumps for the heater at idle. This is the hose connection that has cracked in-half on me (not mine in photo). Guess engine torque is responsible here.... It almost seems as if the pipe goes through the gap in the firewall and the crumple zone wall??? Is it possible to run a new hose back into there?

Will continue to leave my findings for those of you following...
MB DOC tells me that the dash HAS to be pulled. I have the bottom half of the dash out now and still cant see the connection (thought I might at least see it)... Can anyone tell me exactly at what points do the pipes come through the firewall for the heater core? Dash will be coming out this weekend and I will be replacing all the bellows.

So I went and bought the part I required
After a quick inspection I found I was right about it slipping into the crumple zone wall... A couple of hours work and I had her in... MBDOC how could you be so wrong? Ahhhh heat...
