I was taping off the badge so I wouldnt dink it up while detailing the car(need DA.. so much easier).. and I went to adjust the tape and the "3" came off and then the "2" and "0".. The E came off with out an issue. 100% completely not intended

So I told Colin that well I might as well follow through since it might look cool if not it will be clean for me to stick the badges back on.

So this is what is left








How in the world do I get the rest off? It wont come off with acetone or goo gone.

If a hair drier won't help, you may have to compound it off or color sand it.

acetone or goo gone will actually remove your paint, so I wouldn't use them anymore.

Try WD-40.

got some lacquer thinner. I'll try it tomorrow when there is light.

Don't !!

Get some WD-40 (as suggested) to remove traces of adhesive without affecting paint. It's one of WD-40's labeled uses and works well for most types of adhesives.

im thinking whats left is in the paint. but I'll find some wd-40.. ive got to have some

How would goo gone hurt the paint? Isn't that a clearcoat color?

Right, which is why I was asking.. perhaps the goo gone could bleach the color out of a single stage paint? I've used goo gone for this exact purpose on my black / clearcoat car without issue, I just had to clean up the goo gone after I was done.

well I cleaned the goo gone up and wiped the area down with rubbing alcohol and then detailing spray.

You should claybar it, then hit it with ultimate compound.

GOO-GONE is ok, but GOOF-OFF will DEFINITELY harm paint. GOO-GONE is not as "hot" GOOF-OFF and won't remove stuff as quickly or as easily.

Don't mix them up!

Laquer thinner won't hurt the paint, my dads been using it for things like that since he started detailing and I did it with my 300E and it's fine. Lacquer thinner is safe and it gets it off.
