W124 - Power steering problem
So i changed the power steering filter/fluid (oem filter, royal purple fluid)
it was fine for a few days, but i opened up the pump lid to see if the level was good.. its a murky yellow now, and it looks like theres water in it.. it was also like this before i changed it.. I know newer cars use water to cool p/s, but doesn't the w124 use the blower fan? anyone have any ideas how water is getting into the power steering pump? |

Well seals in the steering assemblies could have leftover water in them, did you get all the old fluid out of the lines?

My Question would Be...
How in the H*** did water get into the P.S. system in the first place?
(There's NO interface between ANY system that uses WATER.) 'Been taking the MB to Jiffy Lube again????? yeah, you just sucked the reservoir out with a Turkey Baster... You need to COMPLETELY replace the PS Fluid. The old REMAINING Contaminated fluid has ruined your new RP fluid. schema ALA PP: 1993 W124 300D Draining/Replacing Power Steering Fluid Schema ALA BZWRLD: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210-e-class/1413826-photo-diy-power-steering-fluid-change.html

No but bad or older seals and rainwater or condensation will get that like that. I would vacuum out all the fluid and put in fresh.

When I do the P/S fluid I usually will change the fluid and filter....and then change the fluid again in a week or so....
