No W126 had fully manual climate control. The "basic" system was semi automatic and still regulated temperature itself. Fan speed and direction were set manually. No US spec W126 has the semi automatic system.

I consider the one where you can set fan speed and direction manually....pretty much manual. Lack of fan speed control is one of my biggest issues with the W126 climate control.....it is better on the W124, but still annoying.
