Warmer weather is here.

I noticed that in the last couple of days, when the temps outside are around 20*C my engine temp gets a bit high. All through winter it kept a nice 80*C but lately it's been getting up to around 100*C comes down a bit when I'm moving, around 85*C, but takes a while. A/C is inop., minimal load. and the weather is only going to get hotter.

Is 100*C relatively normal for a V8 at that ambient temp?
Or should I be looking at my cooling system? No leaks, holds pressure.
I had a similar symptom in another vehicle and it turned out to be corroded fins in the radiator.

Yes 100 is normal but a new thermstat and radiator on my part (common 124 problem nipple on drivers side broke off/cracked) made a huge difference on temp as my fans never come on low speed due to the awesome cooling the new radiator does.

so are you using AC or not?

if you are using it with low charge, the Aux fans will not kick on on the first speed causing the car to run 'toasty'

None of my 3 fan buttons on the side are pushed down. Which is the best to have down? could someone elaborate on what each of them do? Or ill just look through my car and the manual

The broken nipple can be easily and properly repaired with the use of a bolt in tire valve stem. Push a wire through the hole all the way to the radiator hose outlet and grab it with pliers to pull out. Put the valve stem over the wire, crimp the wire and then pull the valve stem through until it is in place. Put the rubber washer and nut on the valve stem and tighten down. Leave the valve core out of the valve stem of course. Clamp your hose to the valve stem and you're in business.

I did this to my wifes wagon MANY years ago and it was still going strong many years later when we traded it.
