Anyone know this hitch or seller?

Looking at putting this on my E300 to tow maybe 800 lbs.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300373172065&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Any input is appreciated.

The photos show a Curt hitch. I have one on my '95 E320 wagon. It's a quality class 1 hitch. You can visit the Curt website and find this hitch and the installlation instructions.

I went to the Curt site and the hitch looks different there. Also has a suggested retail of $350! Why so cheap here?

I bought my hitch from JC Whitney and it was much cheaper than the price quoted on the Curt website.
The e-bay auction may be using a generic photo, not an actual photo.

Mulears,

I would not have a hitch system on the W210 that did not include attachment to the unibody, and rear bumper, with the emphasis on the unibody attachment points.

My advice is to find an indy hitch installation company near you, to get bids from. They're generally pretty sharp if they can maintain an accessories / hitch business. I would not necessarily go with U-Haul for the install - before shopping the best indy hitch installers in your area.

My W126 had terrific unibody-attachment points utilized by the installer. It was a lot of years ago, that I had it custom installed by a indy hitch company in Council Bluffs, IA. All for less than $200.00 as I recall. It trailered over #2,000 worth of U-Haul and it's cargo for me. Worked flawlessly. I now wish I had taken several pictures of the W126 install - if I need to have the install duplicated elsewhere on another unibody MB.

If it was me I would ask these guys: http://www.torklift.com/

They are down the street from me and are experts.

They don't appear to offer a hitch for any model of Benz. I'm sure how expert they could be.

Actual selling prices and sale prices are usually wayyyy lower than MSRP. I see this all the time with music equipment--sometimes talking 50%+ off

It usually pays to check around. I prolly checked out 5 or 6 vendors, including e-bay, before buying from Whitney. IIRC, the freight charge and return policy/guarantee from Whitney was the clincher over e-bay.
