Need research help - 111 4 cylinder engine

Hi all,
I have been asked to help find a car for my niece (first vehicle) and I'm thinking of a '97 C230. My wife and I own / drive a 93 300CE cabriolet and a 1997 C280 plus have owned and sold other 6 cylinder MBZ vehicles.

I'm looking for info to help research the 111 4 cylinder engine. I'd like to know about known faults / issues etc. I.E the M104 engine and the headgasket issue.

Also, the brittle engine compartment wiring issue that was prevalent in 93/94/95 cars - is that something that was resolved for 1996 or is the 1996 model year still susceptible?

I'm trying to do my homework so I don't give bad buying advice. THANKS in advance for everyone's help.

M111 engines have very few issues...
The bio-wiring issues went away with the 11/95 production point.

The only issue on a 1997 C230 that would be cause for concern is the 722.6 auto trans.
THEY can be $$$.
Of course if it has made 13 years, it was a GOOD one.
