Help!!! Transmission Problems!
Well here is where the fun begins. Yesterday when I tried to put my 1993 400E in Reverse it wouldn't move. After giving it enough throttle the back wheels screech and the car violently jolts and I am pretty sure I can smell burning clutches. Do these transmissions have a Band for reverse and could it just be burnt up? If not how hard would it be to fix myself or how expensive would it be to take it to a dealer? I have rebuilt a transmission before, however it was a 4L60E out of a 1996 Tahoe...A little more simple.

The only thing is 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th work perfectly fine...But I guess if I am going to pull the transmission to fix one thing I might as well overhaul it.

Most likely the front pump has started failing.
