4matic differential Q:
Does anyone know if the rear diff for a '90 300E 4Matic is the same as the one from a 300TE 4matic wagon of the same generation?
And for that matter are the front coil springs the same for those two models? I have to replace a front spring and the rear diff and the donor car is a wagon... Thanks! |

The diff and coil springs are likely exactly the same physically, but the wagon will have a higher ratio diff. The rear suspension on the wagon is different as it will have the SLS system on it.

Ok so I found this document about various 124 Diffs, it seems that for the 4matics, the 300E and 300TE diffs have different ratios. Maybe this file will be of some use to others.
http://www.w124performance.com/docs/mb/other/differentials.pdf I still cant find out if the front coils are common to both cars...I have to assume they should be, but I wonder if anyone can confirm??? |
