Automatic windows/Sun roof when locking doors

Hey guys. I was wondering what the option for turning the key to lock the doors and holding it there, and bringing up the windows and shuts the sun roof is called. Would it be possible to install that on a earlier model (1989) Pretty sweet feature!

The most complex systems can fail in the simplest way.

Actually it has 2 names, one for each feature, the opening feature is calle Summer Opening, the closing part is called Convenience Closing. Yeah, hard to do. Wasn't an option, which makes it tougher. If the car has it, it's a standard feature, not an option.

The factory system uses IR for that instead of the RF the doors use. You would have to roll your own. I wouldn't try to use the regular transmitter fob. I would just make a completely seperate system. Not worth it IMHO. Just open the doors.

If you have a aftermarket alarm system, you maybe already capable of those functions.

On mine, I have the front & rear courtesy lights come on when I unarm/unlock the car...great feature for at night.

I also have aux1 & aux2 available to me, both can be programmed for pulse/latch & 1-99 seconds. So here, I can connect one to all the windows & the other to the sunroof.

Have another to even open the trunk if I wanted to.

I have the system for windows from locks but I do not have an IR system at all in my 93 400E. I would say that maybe just the conveinence relay may do the trick. The replacement parts I looked at covered multiple years except for that. Might be possible. If you can get one from a boneyard you may be in business.

The cars before IR locking had the feature built into the door locks. You just hold the key in either the lock or unlock position to activate it. If you had a donor car it would be a lot easier than trying to piece it together from scratch. I had a car with it and I don't think I ever used it once. It's nifty I guess but it would be hard to justify the work (for me), even with a donor car.

I'm certain something could be programed to open the windows and unlock the doors if the lock is unlocked for x>set time.

hmm

I can write a program for this in C.

if the key is held at lock position for longer than set time it goes into a routine of opening windows and sunroof. You can trigger this with a magnet on the shaft for the door locks.

when the magnet is in front of the sensor for lock it closes windows and such.. unlock opens , etc.

its doable. You're just going to have to write some code, rewire the window circuit for it to work and troubleshoot.

or you could just buy a car with it, but where is the fun in that?

(my '94 has the feature.. it's awesome, I just wish it would put the top down too)
