Another 560 joins the flock
Just closed the deal on a 1988 560sel Smoke Silver w/Brown leather (drool). 109,xxx k miles. Fabulous interior condition (Really!) and a few challenges to be met.
First up is the green windshield washer solution. Appears there is a leak in the coil that heats the fluid using engine coolant flow. Refill of coolant tank is good for about an hour's drive. Can the coil be saved/repaired? Seems it will have to be salvage yard/stealer item? Bypass and fagettaboutit? Next, the seller replaced the one leaky sls strut but I still have to replace the accumulators. Noticing a "clunk" over sharp bumps mostly on the side just replaced. Are the rubbers worn out too or just a symptom of the accumulators? Pics and such will follow as soon as I have time. Thanks for your input. |
