'91 350sdl crankshaft

The connecting rod journal on crankshaft measures 1.889".
Bearing cups are stamped 603 3510 and 601 4511.
MB parts tell me they can't x-ss ref the above.
Can someone please post the crank specs, please?.

The FSM lists the crankshaft "connecting rod bearing journal dia." Standard dimension as 47.950 - 47.965 mm and "connecting rod bearing journal width" as 27.96 - 28.04 mm

The bearing shells mentioned in FSM are Uppers = 603 08 10 or 603 15 10 Lowers = 601 04 11 or 601 08 11 and that on the 603.970 engine the upper shells are made of a different material than the lower shells due to "increased loads in engine" The upper shell's locating groove is 0.7 mm narrower to prevent misassembly.

If only it were that simple to get bearings on that crank. Mercedes has 4 "standard sizes" of bearing shells that are color coded to identify what size they actually are. Don't be confused though, they also have under / over size bearings as well. The last one I rebuilt, I had to order the standard bearings +- 0 and then measure the clearances, and then order the proper color coded shells to match my clearances on individual cylinders..

MB isn't the only manufacture to do it!! It was common with nitrated cranks b/c of the post treatment polishing. Sizing variation. I remember this with some chevys and hondas too.
