If your old ones are in decent shape, use them for the forward bushing or get some from another source like I eventually did. They were $1.10 each and MUCH stiffer than the kit ones that felt like jelly.
not to resurrect an old thread, but is this still an issue with these bushings?

And for the record, I inspected my welds last week and they still looked great. So the repair kit is holding up just fine.

I hope you cleaned and sprayed those ends with something to keep the rust away.

I just repaired mine too! 91 560 sel failed exactly like yours. Got the fastlane kit, cut off 1/2 inch of sway bar, cleaned and stick welded in sleeve kit myself.

So far so good. Pulls a little to the left now and right side a little higher ride hight than left but back on the road and performing ok now for three weeks.

You should be ok too.

Mine just failed tonight when I had to do hard braking. Snapped on the drivers side, I heard the piece go thunk along under the car. I am not going to do the repair kit....I am going to take the whole new sway bar from my dad's now retired 300SD that got a brand new bar a little over 3 years ago. I will extract it tomorrow night, and install it on mine over the weekend. I've done it before so it shouldn't take too long. I imagine I can have it out of the donor in less than 2 hours, and full swap on mine (with rust treatment and taking my time) in about 6-7 hours.

My kits are still holding up just fine. I suggest a very, very light amount of silicone on the bar ends AFTER you paint them. Heck, powder coat if you can! We all know rust is the number one killer of these bars.

The replacement bar is much heavier on the ends than the original. It will likely outlast the car. I like to torture myself with large-scale repairs. Removing and transferring an entire sway bar in one weekend. Yeah!

I am going to do the upper control arms as soon as I can get them, (ordering). Also changing out brake master cylinder while I'm at it. It will be a new car at the beginning of next week. Soon I am going to do the steering components and guide rods and an alignment also. Considering lower control arm bushings....we'll see.

Well, I finished the epic project. Tore the (5 year old new bar) out of retired SD on friday night in about 3ish hours. Did some preliminary work on my car yesterday morning....then today I began work around 2pm and finished about 25 mins ago. (with 30 min dinner break) That is one heck of a project to do in one run! Car drives much better. It will be even better at the end of the week when I get the new upper control arms in and can replace those....the current ones are essentially shot.

I took a bunch of pics....I'll try to post them on here in a day or two.
