What year is your 300E? I have a print for the valve body of a 722.5 series transmission if that's what you have. Christine |

Steve,
Here's a link to the manual for your transmission: http://w124-zone.com/downloads/photos/300TE/remove_tranny/tranny_722_repair.pdf Page 60 contains the information that you are interested in if the idle adjustment doesn't correct your engagement issue. Hope this helps. Christine |

Hmmmmm...
I wonder if this thing has a transmission upshift delay relay... Look into that. On the 126 the relay is on the firewall. Try removing yours (it probably has one, I dont have a FSM for the 210) Hope that helps.

I neglected to mention in my original post that I both tested the valve and plugged the vacuum line going to the transmission with no change. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll be reinstalling the centrifugal governor assembly this afternoon. Hopefully that will be the silver bullet that corrects this problem. If not, I'll send the valve body out to be rebuilt professionally. Christine |

IT'S FIXED!!!!!
Cleaned the governor assembly up real good with mineral spirits, blew it out with compressed air and stuck it back in. Presto! The car shifts like a dream. So glad that I didn't give up and send it off to someone else to figure out. Thank you all (especially Duxthe1) for the helpful tips and advice along the way! It's been a loooong journey for me. I think I'll go have a few foo foo drinks to celebrate this evening. ![]() Christine |

YES!!!!!! Way to go Christine! I knew you sounded smart enough to figure it out yourself!!! Now, how much to fly you out to So Cal and fix my little issue? Great job Christine!!! Noting better than fixing yourself, especially a transmission (sacred territory for most 99% of car owners).
James Dean...were you talking about my 124 having and adjustment or Christine's car? If mine, what am I looking for and where to drop that idle speed down a little? Thanks, Steve |

Thank you for the compliment. It'll be a while before I'm ready to work on anyone else's car though. I still have all kinds of front suspension work to do along with some touch-up paint work to complete. This car has become almost a full time job for me! Hopefully it'll be worth it in the end. ![]() Christine |

glad to hear you got it fixed.based on all that happened i would guess that the swapping of valve bodies allowed some dirt to find it's way into the govenor thereby causing you to think that all the other work was for naught.
