95 C280 Pulsating lights

This evening I noticed the lights in the dash as well as the headlights were pulsating on my 95 C280 only when the engine is running. Battery? Alternator? Something else? Any info is appreciated.
Thanks.
J.

Alternator probably. Might just need a voltage regulator.

Agree with Gilly... when ours did this, it was the voltage regulator.

Turn down the music

Just kidding. But I laugh when I come up behind a car at night and can see its running lights pulsating. Then as I get closer I hear the low thump of music.

Sounds like the regulator to me, I've had this problem in the past on bosch alternator'ed cars and it was just the regulator.

LOL! That never occured to me. But seriously folks, thanks for the info. Is it possible to replace the regulator without removing the alternator?

Thanks again.

Generally you can replace the reg without removing the alternator, yes. You have to be careful putting it back in so 1. you don't drop it and 2. that you slip it in properly so as not to break off one of the brushes.
