Fuel Injector replacement

How much should a 6 cylinder injector replacement cost at my local dealer? I am fairly grease-monkey savvy. Could I replace them myself? If so, at what cost?

I did mine, and I am a DIY'er

Each injector cost about $20 plus seals. Less than $100 for sure.

Defenitely a Doityourself project. I believe its $25 per injector and you will need the nozzleholders, reuse the old O-rings of possible.
The whole thing will take about 30-60 minutes.
Good Luck!

Change out those o rings

Its an easy job as long as you have two sets of wrenches (one of which should be a flare/line wrench set) make sure to hold the line with one while you break the injectors loose with the other or you'll run the risk of twisting the end off of the injector line. Also, don't reuse the injector seals, replace them! the O-rings and seal/rubberholders get old and create vacuum leaks.

Just my 2 cents

Jason

Thanks, Jason. Tell me about the flare/line wrench set. I'm pretty "tooled up", but I'm not familiar with the terminology.

Hey,

Flare wrenches are designed to hold all sides of the line fitting, not just the 2 sides like a regular wrench. Keeps from rounding off the soft brass or other metal fittings.

heres the address of an example on the craftsman site:

One last thing, you could probably also benefit from a "ball end" style allen wrench, because you will have to kinda angle the allen wrench on cylinder 3 or 4 as I remember.... been a while but I think something mildly obstructed access to the injector retainer.

Take Care

Jason
