I need to replace the hardware and shoes on my parking brakes early next week. My springs appear broke on one side and their draggin/boucing around inside the rotor. I've never been very proficient with drum brakes (when I did my truck, I'm pretty sure I pioneered new cuss words). And insight to make this easier? Tools? Tricks? Wisdom?

Drum brakes? Strange thought they were all disc.

macdrone, the parking brake is a drum brake. A disc brake would be useless as a parking brake, without any hydraulic pressure to the caliper.

Guess ill have to look at that, do you mean there is a seperate drum other than the rear disc on the car for the parking brake?

Wow that is weird, guess I should have taken my rear discs off to look at that when i did the back brakes.

macdrone, the parking brake drum is part of the rear disc. Suggest looking at a parts' supplier website for a picture of your car's rear disc.

it's very difficult to install the little springs on the shoes without the correct tool or something close to it. you can make something if you're handy.
