things to look for 2000 E430

I found a 2000 E430 that I would like to look at, and consider buying. It has 175000 KM on it. Silver exterior with what looks to be a black interior. The seller wants $7900. I think I could chew him down, and possibly trade my 95 S320 in on it.
Are there any know faults on this car, and how to check and test them??

Any 10 year car should have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) at good MB shop.

The trans info (scan) would be very important to me.

Some of the W220 weaknesses include, but are not limited to: Air-Matic compressors and front struts, various audio system issues, easily clogged body drains (which can cause big bucks to fix), instrument clusters (MBUSA has extended the warranty, not sure about Canada), and like Doc said, transmission issues.

This doesn't include the routine maintenance and wear and tear items. Owning a W220 probably won't be painless, but you already own a W140, albeit a 6 cyl., so you know what I'm talking about.

There was another thread on this recently. Gregs210 posted a good checklist for common issues at Benzworld and BenzObsession, some you can check yourself, some you may want to leave for others. Here's a link: http://benzobsession.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3438

Plus two on a good PPI, it's money well spent. Things that are found will help you chew down the price. Plus the mechanic may find something really ugly.
