560sel stuck ignition

I have an 89 560 sel that I picked up as a parts car because it had a stuck ignition.

I pulled the ignition and couldn't get it to spin freely so after about 3 hours of frustration and no progress it ended up on my shop table with about 6 holes drilled in it

Is there any way to hot wire the car or start it without an ignition/key?
Or, do I have to get a new ignition?

The kid I got it from claimed that it ran but I haven't had the pleasure of starting it yet.

sure, disconnect the electrical plug from the ignition switch & unbolt the ignition switch.
reconnect the electrical to that switch & use a screwdriver to turn the ignition switch.
