ABS Activates at low speed w/o lockup
Infrequently, the ABS on my '92 400E will be
activated at low speed, usually while coming to a gradual stop. The ABS light has never come on (except when starting the engine). What could cause this? I'm guessing that the ABS sensors may need to be cleaned. How can I clean/check them? Thanks, Forrest 1992 400E |

On my Dad's 190E 2.6, it did the same thing. We had the sensors cleaned, but that didn't work. They were replaced, and P/L ran about $500CDN.
BTW, his ABS light was not coming on either...

John,
Thanks for the reply. Do you know what has to be removed to get to the sensors for cleaning/replacement? Forrest |

Tires will have to come off, unless you can get it in the air. Follow the wire that does not go to the brake caliper, that's you sensor lead.
