Lightbulb Brake upgrade question: 284mm to 295mm

Hi Guys,

Looking at upgrading the 284mm stock 300E 12V front brakes to 24V 295mm brakes. Will include: hubs, calipers, disc rotors, brake pads and wear indicators to upgrade, also lines etc.

Question is: will I need to upgrade anything else like brake booster (master or slave cylinder etc)?

Take a read of this...I compiled a lot of information that should answer most of your Q's.

I did not upgrade my brake booster and the pedal feels perfectly fine. Don't worry about it

Let me know if you have any other Q's!

22mm x 295mm so that is exactly the disks + rotors I am using. You won't need to do anything other than cut the dust shield around the ball joint.

That and a little bend to fit the larger rotor, but no more cutting. Dead easy and you'll be very impressed by the upgrade.

You don't need to get SS lines, a nice new set of OE lines for $10 will suffice if you want to save some cash

Thought it looked like a good deal. Thanks heaps for the confirmation I havn't had the best time so far with this car so, this cheers me up a little. Probably won't fit them til back from workshop & it's running right though as there is so much to cram in now before Chrissie time

A friend is parting a 95 300SL. Are its brake components a suitable donor for a W124? Just last week, he was asking me if he should save them for somebody. I said he should (was I right?)

Thx -CTH

IIRC those are the front brakes used on the 500E.
