'85 2.3 transmission question

Hello,
Hoping to gain insight into the replacement of my euro 123 coupe transmission. The 14 digit number on the current tranny is 722 401 02 192701. I want to replace it with a '88 tranny out of a 190E, # 722 408 02 626560. I know it will bolt up to the bellhousing. Does anyone know if I will encounter any problems using this transmission replacement? I assume if it works bolting it up to the 123 chassis shouldnt be a problem as well? Thanks! Dave

I think you will have to replace the rear odometer drive gears to work with the calibration and diff of the 123, Other than that, I don't know. I think the tranny will work, but whether the shift points and gear ratios are correct, who knows?
