Late model transmission interchange question
Hey guys,
Does anyone know if all Mercedes after 1997 use the same transmission (722.6XX)? I am curious if I can take a transmission from say a 2000 s500 and put it in a 1997 E320. Of course, I will probably have to replace the ETC and recode. Thanks, Brian |

No, there are many versions of the 722.6. Each version actually carries the full tag 722.6XX, and they are constructed slightly differently.
However, that does not mean that the V-8 version won't work with the V-6, but it might mean some modifications. Not sure if anyone has done this, given the relative newness of the 722.6.

97 e320 has a 104 motor and the bell housing is different from the s-class with the 113 motor. That is one of the big differences.
