SRS light stays on

1990 300 SL

Just recently, my SRS warning light started staying on for several minutes before going out. Now the warning light won't go out. This seemed to coincide with the arrival of freezing temperatures, but I doubt this really has anything to do with the problem. I've researched the archives but haven't found an answer. I haven't recently installed anything and I haven't disconnected the battery. Can anyone help me with this?
