190E 2.3L 8v and 16V oil filter same?
Went to Costco here in Montreal to get oil changed on my 87 190E 2.3L 8v(have no place in winter to do it myself unfortunately). They told me that they only have the oil filter listed for the 16v(I believe they use Framm).I think there must be maybe 10 16v cars in all of Montreal! Is this just a goof-up? Are they the same filter?

The 1984 190E 2.3 & all 16V's do use the same cartridge style filter. ALL other 2.3's use the same spin-on filter as the M103 engine. ALMOST the same as a VW & OR BMW filter, but with a special anti-drain check valve that most other filters DON'T have!!!

Waddaya expect from Costco? They know Neons and K-cars.
The M102 1987 and up 130hp 2.3L 8V uses the spin-on filter (as above) and are readily available from your MB dealer. Try to find an indie mechanic that knows MB's if you are not going to change your own oil and hate the dealer's outrageous pricing. Any Montreal area members know of someone trustworthy?
