0001 or 0003 - which block heater?
I have a question about block heaters.
I have a 79 240d that needs a block heater. I have found several sites which list them for sale. One says 77-79 years need one size (Q6 20 0001) and 80 on up need another (Q6 20 0003). Another has one size (Q6 20 0003) for all the years. Does anyone know off the top of your head what the difference is? Is '0003 a different model? Or just improved? Is it like the glow plugs on the 240s and 300s? The pencil-types require different wiring, but glow hotter and faster and fit in the same holes? Thanks Josh

The difference is in the size of the threads. Different year engines have different size freeze plugs. You have to remove the freeze plug to install the new block heater. Get your production date or Vin and call Phill at the 1-888 # at the top of the sreen...He will send you the right one.!!!
I have one in the wife's e300 D and she loves it!
