it never ends

I have a squeaking/creaking noise coming from front driver side wheel. Sounds like a very old wooden door opening slowly and needing some WD40. It happens when I turn the wheel while I'm idling. Any suggestions? also, I have not done my suspension since I've had my car, so for all I know the suspension is almost as old as I am.

ball joints... Tie rod ends. Squeaky shock mount (if applicable) Control arms? my squeaks were ball joints.

are they hard to replace? the ball joints? and where are they located? I notice the noise also occurrs if I press down on the front driver side of the hood as well......sounds like an old rusted spring.

ball joints? they are on the control arms, it's what your front wheels pivot on I believe, you can press the old ones out and new ones in. As to the difficulty I dont know I had mine done as I dont have the tools to do it, there's a test to see if they are shot, I'm not sure of the procedure someone else will chime in

It may be worth the time to put the front end on jack stands and have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you are under the car. I had the same noise a few months ago. From the posts I read, I was almost convinced it was ball joints. Luckily, it turned out to be the steering damper strut. I sprayed some LPS lube in between the inner and outer housing and the noise stopped. I have since replaced the strut, which only took about 15 minutes.
