Hi All - first post here, as I have just become owner of my first mercedes, a 1993 300CE-24V in sportline guise (quite rare here in the UK)

Really pleased with it so far - there are a few small things that need sorting to bring it up to standard. one of these items is the temp gauge does not work.

Looking at the thermostat housing there are 3 possible sensors - looking from left to right there are :

large single pin sensor, smaller single pin sensor, and multi-pin connector.

which of these is possible culprit for temp gauge issue, and if not sensor is the gauge easily testable/repairable ?

On that car & most cars thru 1995, MB used a single pole sensor that has a green colored wire plugged into it.

Cheers M.B. Doc - I will check out tomorrow, but i seem to recall that there's a green lead on the smaller of the single pin sensors ?

I have just found out the substitute resistance test value for 100 DegC, so I can also check the gauge and wiring for accuracy/damage.

i agree with above statement,they did use a single pole sensor,its located in the middle of the three sensors if you have them the 2 pole one closest to firewall is the fuel injector sensor,the one in the middle single pole is temp gauge sensor,and if applicable the 2 prong vacum switch is the one up front,it has 2 vacum lines on it.
