Can someone recommend a good W124 Service Repair Manual..?

It's probably posted as an indirect statement on other threads, however, I have been unable to find any direct reference to this..

Who publishes the best 86-95 W124 E Class Service Repair Manual that doesn't require a PhD in quantum physics to interpret? Chilton, Bently, R.M. Clarke??? I found a supposedly original MB service manual on CD and it was pretty lame, (so I am sticking to paperbacks), and did not have much to help with disassembly..

Thanks

DH

I thought Haynes (#3253) was the only one that there was, which would make it the best.

If you are not interested in the factory CD - try:

http://www.mercedesmanuals.com/

I am not saying they have anything of value - just pointing it out.

I have found value in:

Haynes #3253 - Mercedes-Benz 200,230,250,260.280.300.320
1985 to Aug 1993(C to K registration) Petrol and Diesel

Australian site provided below - I got mine in the U. S. years ago - try Amazon/etc

What is the difference between 'Workshop Manual' and 'Service Manual'...?

What I pointed out is not related to anything as late as your car -> 1995

I purchased the one for the two model years, 1994-95, published by Bently and find that it has *most* of the info I have needed. This car ('95 W124) is soooo much more complicated for me that I really don't want to do any more of the work on it than I just have to! I'm comparing it to my much more simple and easy to work on W123 (now SOLD)!

I have the Haynes #3253 mentioned above. I recommend it highly for the DIY, but it is only through '93 (although much / most still applies to the '94 & '95).

I also have the Bently "E Class Owner's Bible", which I consider more of a coffee-table book, it has some interesting trivia, some of it incorrect, little real service data, and with the errors I have found in the book I don't trust any of its data, ... useless.

Finally I have the FSM on CD and in print. I use the CD frequently, have found a couple of marginal quality scans in the factory CD (electrical, missing one I needed for my '95). A little difficult to navigate until you get used to the way it is laid out, but excellent information.

I prefer the CD over the printed version for most of my work, as the CD does allow printing and is faster to navigate.
