WOULD YOU CORRECT THE CLERK'S TYPO?

i registered a 2006 cl55amg today.

and didn't read the paperwork before exiting the tax assessor's office.

but reading it tonight, i have noticed that she made an error. identifying the vehicle as a C55.

in an historical sense, this is a big error.

but is it worth my standing in line again to get that error corrected?

somehow, i tend to thinks so. on the other hand, perhaps these errors are so commonplace as to be irrelevant.

all ears.

Does it affect how much you are taxed on the vehicle?

are we talking title here or tags/registration..

I wonder what would happen if you get a stickler cop that pulls you over and reads it and looks at your badges..

Not that that really matters..vin # is the key.

My 190E is debadged. I doubt many people in my aera even know what it is ...

It may make a difference when you sell the car. I had a person fix a typo on the VIN before I could take posession of the title. Though I believe this may have been unnecessary, and the state allows for a typo when registering a car.

If you are in a title state, and the title is correct, I wouldn't worry about it.

Technically you probably should have it corrected, but I'd plead ignorance to save waiting in line until renewal time.

In order to avoid problems down the road I recommend getting the typo corrected now.

I wouldn't worry about it, if it's on the registration. as long as VIN matches up you will not have a problem, heck, I even had a title issued where the previous title agency omited the "WDB" as it's not stamped on the VIN card. The rest of the numbers matched up, I told the clerk, all mercedes start with a WDB and she say OK and handed me a corrected title.

Last time the DMV typo'ed my title, I went back, asked to speak to the supervisor, and got to bypass the cattle line.
