the mob and car dealerships

what is the role of organized crime in auto dealerships these days?

anyone know? got a guess?

now, why do i ask this question? because i have encountered a porsche dealership that makes me feel as if i am dealing with a mob entity.

my encounter with picking up my porsche this afternoon from the service dept called to mind many previous encounters with the mob.

in this instance, monitoring service dept invoicing on this last day of the month. first time that i have encountered the invoicing/payment not going through the dealership cashier. and all the "guys" hanging out in that service dept office, running the payment of service invoices were guys that i had never seen before. and they were those kind of guys.

you know, there is a certain "tang" to a wise guy. a group of wise guys.

and i have been around a long time. i have encountered my share of wise guys.

this afternoon, i felt that the boys were there to monitor the service dept books on the last day of the month.

lent the dealership some money + vig and were there to insure that they got it back? or was the dealership just a laundry? and they were there on the last day of the month to insure that there was no skimming.

all i know is that i experienced a strange assemblage of characters hanging out in the service dept offices on the afternoon of this last day of the month. and i would identify none of them as car guys.

capiche?

It is also yearend audit time. These days there is no clear distinction between thugs and those in the finacial profession, especially if you're within a 200 mile radius of Wall St
