E50 w210 erratic idling and near stall
I felt sudden momentary loss in power while running at highway speed a few weeks ago. The problem progressively worsened to erratic idling to a point that that the car almost stalls in heavy traffic every time I step on the brakes. Shop hooked it up into a computer which pointed up to the MAF at the verge of failing.
Since the part is expensive, I removed the MAF and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner as well as replaced the air filters hoping that the problem will go away. The erratic idling problem did go away but came back after only a few days. Is it really time to replace or is there another part that I should be looking at? Your ideas are most welcome. |

hmm, you take it to shop and they tell you it's the MAF. you clean it hoping that
this will resolve it (which is rare). I'm not sure how we can override the shop's diagnosis. what indications did they get, e.g. DTC error code(s)?
