420 SEL Violent Engine Shake

My engine is shaking at idle and at low speeds. This is what I have noticed:

1) The economy gauge reads half way at idle

2) The oil pressure and tach fluctuate more than normal

3) It smoothes out at highway speeds but still gets horrible fuel economy

4) The car does not stall

5) My tooth fillings are coming out

ANY IDEAS?

Thanks

sounds like a major vacuum leak to me. Check the check valve between the intake manifold and the brake booster. If that's ok check the vacuum line going to the transmission modulator valve.

my car ('85 380 SE) "rocked" at idle.
I ran a can of "Techron" in a full tank of gas,
then changed the oil and filter.
the rock went away.(cleaned injectors)
It sounds as if you have a more severe problem,
I would pull and examine your spark plugs,
if one is fouled, check spark wires, cap, rotor, replace if necessary, check all vacume lines, look for disconnected lines, rotted lines(if you see this repalce all vacume lines)
this is the basics, after this checks out,its time to get a professional diagnosis.
good luck!

Just curious, can you identify which line or connection it was that caused your vibration? I've just ordered all new fittings and hose from Fast Lane and I'm going to replace it all, but yesterday our engine started behaving as you described. I'm hoping it will clear up some shift issues also.
