Collapsed radiator hose?

I just opened the hood on my '90 300SE this morning after backing out of the driveway and the upper radiator hose is collapsed. I've never seen this before. I am getting ready to replace the water pump. Could this be related?

Thanks Mike, while poking around, I decided to open the cap. As you already know, the upper hose returned to it's normal self. Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm beginning to wonder if I need a water pump at all. The one that's on there may be weeping a tiny amount. It's got 100K on it. The repair looks like quite a job. I just paid to have the air pump replaced. I was hoping to get another month or two before another fairly big repair.

I may go ahead and do it as I drive alot out of town, and if it lets go, it'll cost me dearly in $ and time.

Thanks again,

Bill

Replace the cap for now...it's around $10-20 depending on where you buy it. Mine did that once, but it was due to not screwing it down tightly enough.

If your coolant pump is leaking, it won't be long before it goes too. When you see a pronounced amount of coolant on the driveway, then it's time to get it replaced.
