Help with this stupid shutter/hesitation

Im getting really frustrated with my 92 500sel a couple weeks back the car was driving but after a few minutes it would just die when I stopped at a red light or stopped anywhere I took it to my indy and he said there is a hose at the bottom of the engine that he replaced and it fixed the problem, after that the car developed a slight shutter around 2000 rpm but went away so I just left it alone but now its starts to shutter if i touch the gas pedal in drive or reverse, called indy and he said distributor caps and some other things,I checked the plugs today and there covered in oil and there is sludge on top of them, also the fuel pressure regulator is out I think because when the car is off fuel is coming out of it,where should I start

What's the mileage on your 1992 500SEL and what is the maintenance history? Spark plugs covered in oil smacks of basic neglect. In which case it could be very expensive making this car right.

If your indy is a MB-trained tech ask for a quote for a major tune-up and all neglected maintenance issues. A competent indy would have realized there were more issues than a faulty hose when he recently serviced your 500SEL, and recommended other maintenance be performed at that time.
